The city of Vancouver is holding a thank-you event at noon Friday to recognize the businesses and partners that helped give Marine Park a much-needed face-lift this summer.

The community is invited to the event, which will be held in the shelter at Marine Park at Southeast Marine Park Way, off Columbia Way, just east of the Water Resources Education Center.

Volunteers from the Southwest Washington Contractors Association replaced 13 picnic tables, added a drinking fountain and repaired landscaping in the park, which is a trailhead for the popular Waterfront Renaissance Trail. Park amenities include a playground, restrooms, picnic shelters, a baseball backstop and a boat launch.

The Marine Park improvement project was funded with a $50,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington. A donation from the Shirley and Jim Johnson Charitable Fund made the grant possible, according to a city press release.

Contractors association members that contributed equipment and labor to the project were Anchor Concrete, Catworks Construction, Excavator Rental Services, Halbert Construction Services, North Fork Landscape Inc., Precision Bounding, Precision Rebar & Accessories, Stellar J, Twice the Light and Waste Connections.
