Is the actor Lucas Black on “NCIS: New Orleans” the same one who was on a show with Gary Cole about 20 years ago?
Yes. In 1995-96, Black played Caleb Temple on “American Gothic,” a fine thriller for CBS. Created by Shaun Cassidy, the series involved scary doings in a South Carolina town run by the local sheriff Lucas Buck, played by Gary Cole. The cast also included Paige Turco, Sarah Paulson, Jake Weber and Brenda Bakke.
Since that series ended, Black has continued to accumulate acting credits, including as part of the “Fast and the Furious” franchise, where he starred in the third film, “Tokyo Drift,” and was seen briefly in “Furious 7.” He was also in the movie version of “Friday Night Lights” and played Pee Wee Reese in the Jackie Robinson biopic “42.”
As you know, he is now playing Christopher LaSalle in “NCIS: New Orleans.”
I have been wondering who Jordan Bridges of “Rizzoli and Isles” belongs to: Jeff or Beau? And is he a grandson? The resemblance is unmistakable.
Jordan Bridges, who plays Frankie Rizzoli on the TNT drama, is the son of Beau Bridges and Beau’s first wife, Julie Landfield.
I missed the first episode of the recent “Masterpiece” series, “Poldark.” Will PBS rerun this any time soon? Or will there be a DVD?
The first season of the latest drama adapted from the novels of Winston Graham is now on DVD, Blu-ray, Amazon Instant and iTunes. (There was also a ’70s “Poldark” that you can find on DVD and Amazon Instant.) A second season is being prepared, so you may get to see reruns of the first before its premiere.
I was wondering if a movie starring Robert Redford and Natalie Wood will ever be on TV again. The story was about a little railroad town where Redford was sent to close down the workshop and Natalie and Redford got involved. I would also like to know the song that was played throughout the movie; the title might be “Send Me a Rainbow.”
That is “This Property Is Condemned,” from 1966. I have seen it in TV schedules from time to time. It is also on DVD, Amazon Instant and iTunes. The song is called “Wish Me a Rainbow,” written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. Singing it in the movie is Mary Badham, most famous for playing Scout in “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
You recently said you could not find “The Real McCoys.” It’s on Cozi TV.
The array of outlets offering vintage TV and movies just keeps growing (and that means still more places for program-hunting). I’ve mentioned Retro TV, Antenna TV and Me TV here in the past. Other programmers include Cozi, Laff, Bounce and Get TV. Distribution of such channels varies; it may be through affiliated stations, as secondary channels for broadcast stations and/or via cable or satellite. In some cases, they mix originals with older programming.
