A Vancouver man who allegedly agreed to enter into a sexual relationship with a minor made a first appearance in Clark County Superior Court on Friday.

Teri Michael Talbot, 59, appeared to face an allegation of second-degree attempted rape of a child.

Talbot was arrested Thursday outside a business on Northeast Andresen Road after responding to a solicitation for sex with a 13-year-old girl, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court.

A second suspect, Brett Lee Schumacher, 44, of Portland, was arrested Friday in a similar case, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

During his hearing, Talbot said he’d hire his own attorney, but in the meantime, Judge Daniel Stahnke appointed defense attorney Barry Brandenburg to represent him.

Talbot’s bail was set at $50,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 9.
