A woman was taken to a hospital by helicopter Sunday after she was hurt in a crash between two motorcycles near Amboy.

The traffic collision was reported at about 4:30 p.m. at Milepost 23 on state Highway 503, not far from the Chelatchie Prairie General Store. It occurred when a northbound motorcycle driven by 28-year-old Zachariah M. Sumner of North Bend attempted to legally pass another motorcycle driven by Krista A. Enold, 29, of Portland, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo.

As Sumner attempted to pass Enold in the southbound lane, Enold tried to make a left turn into a private driveway, and her motorcycle collided with Sumner’s, the memo said. Both were wearing helmets, WSP said.

Enold was rushed by LifeFlight helicopter to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where she was listed in satisfactory condition Sunday night. Sumner was not injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by State Patrol.
