Letter: Hoax suspected in clock scare

In response to Leonard Pitts Sept. 21 opinion column “A clock, a kid and a lack of bravery in America,” regarding the recent story of the poor little “clock boy” in Texas, anyone remember the “balloon boy” father/son hoax?

I think these people knew exactly what they were doing. Just look at what has been happening in the areas surrounding this town, just check the world news, and how about the father’s background? Lastly, just look at this “clock” that the boy took to school — does it even faintly look like a clock? Wouldn’t the father and even the 14-year-old figure out what it really looked like? But the media and liberals are so trigger-happy to point out that it must be bigotry and racism that they’ve played right into this scheme.

I think there was definitely a lack of common sense shown by those pointing angry fingers at the teacher and the school. There is an expression: Their minds were so open that their brains fell out.
