Columbia Way — The Rotary Club of Greater Clark County held a dedication ceremony on Sept. 17 for a new peace pole at the Water Resources Center.

The pole reads “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in eight languages. Money for the pole came partly from the Rotary and donations.

The sign at the pole was donated by Carol Keljo of Security Sign, the materials came from an anonymous donation and Russ Chambers volunteered to design the sign and fabricate the framework.

The Rotary also presented Julie Hannon, director of Vancouver Parks and Recreation, with a check for $600 to maintain the pole.

“It is our hope that the many people who walk this trail every day, from all over the world, will be touched,” Susan Chambers, past president of the Rotary, said in a release from the organization.
