Letter: Is Trump the best to lead us?

By Donald Howard, Camas

I recently received a letter from our GOP Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas. One particular paragraph caught my attention. The paragraph read, “The next president of the United States will inherit a country, and a world, with an unstable economy as well as a range of complex foreign policy challenges. Our next leader should be someone who understands how our economy works, possesses strong leadership skills, and be well versed in foreign policy issues in order to carry out the duties of commander in chief.”

Donald Trump now substantially leads the GOP primary. He has filed bankruptcy four times, has resorted to calling ladies “bimbos” and Mexicans “rapists,” has instigated and approved of violence, has absolutely no experience in foreign policy, has called for banning all Muslims even though some have died fighting for us in wars, and has alienated almost every country in the world by his bullying vitriol.

I simply asked Herrera Beutler if Trump is the guy she envisions leading her GOP party to the presidency. To date, I have not received an answer.
