Portland Winterhawks defenseman Caleb Jones signed a three-year entry level contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

Jones was selected in the fourth round, 117th overall, in last June’s National Hockey League Draft.

In his first season with the Winterhawks, Jones had 10 goals and 45 assists for 55 points in 72 games.

Jones was named the team’s Rookie of the Year, and finished the 2015-16 season fifth overall in scoring among the league’s rookies and tied for 10th overall among the league’s leading defensemen.

Jones is the brother of former Winterhawk and current Columbus Blue Jackets’ defenseman Seth Jones.
