Notable: This is a rematch of last season’s Western Conference finals, which the Timbers won 5-3 on total goals including 3-1 at home. … Timbers coach Caleb Porter said it is important for his team to build on a solid performance in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at the Galaxy, even with injuries sidelining key players. Darlington Nagbe (ankle), Liam Ridgewell (hamstring), Dairon Asprilla (foot), Ben Zemanski (groin) and Andy Thoma (knee) are all out for this match. … Veteran midfielder Ned Grabavoy is the likely replacement for Nagbe in an attacking midfield position, though attacking options include Darren Mattocks, Jack McInerney and Jack Barmby. This is the second of three games in seven days for the Timbers, though Porter downplayed the need to rest players either Wednesday or on Saturday when San Jose visits Providence Park.
• Maxi Urruti returns to Portland for the first time since the Timbers celebrated their MLS Cup title in December. He had scored thre goals and taken 19 shots in his first six games as FCD’s striker.
