Prep highlights: King’s Way Christian baseball sweeps Kalama

Damon Casetta-Stubbs tossed a one-hit shutout and scored the winning run in the opener as the King’s Way Christian baseball team swept Kalama in Trico League doubleheader on Tuesday.

King’s Way Christian won the opener 1-0 and the nightcap 12-4 as the Knights moved into first place in the Trico.

Casetta-Stubbs struck out nine and walked two in the opener. With two outs in the bottom of the seven, Casetta-Stubbs reached on a three-base error. Riley Danberg followed with the game-winning single to left.

The Knights’ offense got off to a better start in the nightcap, jumping out to a 7-0 lead after two innings.

Preston Danberg was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI, and Karter Graves was 2 for 5 with two runs and two RBI for King’s Way in the second game.

• Caleigh Lofstead, Camas girls track and field, cleared a career-best 13-feet to win the pole vault in a three-team meet at Heritage.

• Preston Jones, Mountain View baseball, went 2 for 3 with two runs, two doubles and three RBI in a 17-5 win over Heritage.

• Josh Polen, Seton Catholic boys soccer, had two goals and an assist for Cougars’ 5-1 win over Stevenson.

• Taylor Easterly, Columbia River baseball, went 3 for 4 with two runs and three RBI for River in a 14-2 win over Prairie.

• Liam Fitzpatrick, Camas baseball, went 3 for 4 with two doubles and a triple for Papermakers in a 10-3 win over Evergreen. Fitzpatrick also gave up on one earned run in five innings for the win.

• Christian Thyron, Prairie soccer, had a goal and two assists in a 3-0 win over Fort Vancouver.

• Paige Stinson, La Center softball, went 6 for 8 with three doubles and a triple in a double-header sweep at White Salmon. Stinson scored five times and had four RBI. She also earned a pitching win with 10 strikeouts over five innings.

• Kenzie Schaller, Skyview softball, went 3 for 3 with a double and scored twice in a 13-3 win over Mark Morris.

• Sawyer Bierscheid, La Center baseball, went 4 for 7 at the plate and struck out nine a complete game pitching victory to help the Wildcats sweep Columbia-White Salmon.

• Izzy Parkin, Columbia River softball, hit a home run and drove in four runs in a win over Evergreen.

• Ryan Connop, Columbia River soccer, scored an unassisted goal to beat Kelso 1-0.

• Laura Seidel and Sally Bishop-Smith, Ridgefield tennis, both won their singles matches love-love.
