Letter: Wolfe in sheep’s clothing uncovered

Port of Vancouver Commissioner Brian Wolfe has shown his true colors on the Tesoro-Savage lease extension issue. After taking public testimony all day on April 12 and hearing from a majority who are opposed to this horrible oil terminal, and claiming to be undecided on whether to extend the lease, it was clear to all of us that Wolfe pretends to be impartial, undecided, and concerned about the environment when he is not. He plays games with all of our lives. He sat on the dais as Commissioner Jerry Oliver inappropriately singled out opponents by name to excoriate them and Wolfe said nothing. None of us were allowed to comment, of course. Then Mr. Wolfe-in-sheep’s-clothing cravenly amended the contract amendment without allowing public comment.

To me, it was obviously his plan all along. At the recess, when I talked to him about allowing further comment from the public, he yelled at me. Both he and Oliver should be publicly censured for their conduct. It’s time they were both out of office.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
