Clark County residents can save money on prescription drugs with the county’s free prescription discount drug program sponsored by the National Association of Counties.

The cards are free and may be used by all county residents regardless of age, income or existing health coverage. The cards may be used any time insurance does not cover a prescription, and most pharmacies accept them. There aren’t any enrollment forms, restrictions or limits on how many times the card can be used. A Spanish version of the card is available.

Cards are available at city halls, libraries, participating pharmacies and C-Tran transit centers in Clark County and these county facilities:

• Center for Community Health, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver.

• Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.

• Auto Licensing, 1408 Franklin St., Vancouver.

Since the program started in 2006, county residents have used prescription discount cards to fill about 279,400 prescriptions, according to a county press release. The average discount was nearly 27 percent on each prescription, or an average savings of $11.31. From November 2006 through March 2016, Clark County residents saved a total $3.16 million.
