Vancouver names new school principals, administrators

Annual administrative staff changes announced

Vancouver Public Schools has announced several administrative staff changes for the 2016-17 school year. Personnel assignments are subject to approval by the school board.

Elementary schools:

 Sarah J. Anderson Elementary: Katie Arkoosh will become principal. She currently is associate principal. Kevin Coffey will be associate principal. He currently is a teacher at Peter S. Ogden Elementary.

 Chinook Elementary: Donna Jeffries will become associate principal. She currently is associate principal at Columbia River High School.

 Felida Elementary: Katie Ronning will become associate principal. Currently she is associate principal at Hazel Dell and Felida elementary schools.

 Fruit Valley Community Learning Center: Matt Fechter will become principal. He currently is associate principal at Chinook Elementary.

• Hazel Dell Elementary and Minnehaha Elementary: Kirsten Copeland will be associate principal at both schools. He currently is associate principal at Minnehaha and Anderson elementary schools.

 Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary: Megan Vickery will become principal. She currently is associate principal at McLoughlin Middle School.

 Truman Elementary: Patrice Woods will be half-time associate principal. She currently works at Education Northwest in Portland.

Middle schools and high schools:

 Columbia River High School: Marji Ruzicka will become associate principal. She currently is associate principal at Fort Vancouver High School.

 Fort Vancouver High School Center for International Studies: Principal Scott Parker is leaving the district. Jody Videlco will be the new principal. She currently is principal at Vancouver Flex Academy. Allison Darke will become associate principal. She currently is Fort Vancouver High School Center for International Studies coordinator.

 McLoughlin Middle School: Angie Gaub will become associate principal. She currently is a Positive Behaviors and Interventions Support coach at Jason Lee Middle School.

 Thomas Jefferson Middle School: Andrea Sperry will become full-time associate principal. She currently is half-time associate principal at Truman Elementary.

 Vancouver Flex Academy: Steve Lindblom will become principal. He is current principal of Vancouver Home Connection and Vancouver Virtual Academy.

 Vancouver Home Connection and Vancouver Virtual Academy: Deanna Hogan will become principal. She currently is director of student attendance and welfare. Anita Chase will become associate principal at both schools. She currently is associate principal at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

 Vancouver iTech Preparatory: Zach Tautfest will fill a new associate principal position. He currently is a teacher at Skyview High School.

 Vancouver School of Arts and Academics: Principal Jim O’Banion is retiring. Lori Rotherham, current associate principal, will become principal. Jennifer Hockhalter will become associate principal. She currently is a teacher at VSAA.

District office:

 Kathy Everidge will become assistant superintendent, human resources. She currently is assistant superintendent, chief schools officer. Travis Campbell, assistant superintendent, chief academic officer, will assume Everidge’s current duties with support from the executive directors of teaching and learning. The position of chief schools officer will be eliminated.

 Debra Hale will be an executive director of teaching and learning. She currently is principal of Sarah J. Anderson Elementary.

 Mark Wreath will become director, career and technical education. He currently works at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore.

 Albert Alcantar will become director of athletics and safety. He currently is interim director of that department.

 Carole Pemberton will become transportation supervisor. She currently is interim transportation supervisor.

Retiring administrators:

 Debbie Elliott, principal, Fruit Valley Community Learning Center.

 Jim O’Banion, principal, Vancouver School of Arts and Academics.
