Letter: Fundraising quotas unacceptable

By

I am upset and disgusted after watching the April 24 segment on “60 Minutes” regarding the fundraising practices of Congress. It is clear that this is another reason why nothing gets done in Washington, D.C., in addition to the constant blockage and saying “no” to legislation.

Having elected officials spend four hours a day on the phone to donors asking for money and only one to two hours each day on the floor of Congress or in their offices is ridiculous and unacceptable. I resent my tax dollars being used to pay their salaries, generous perks and pensions for inferior work.

Let’s challenge each other to vote only for candidates willing to dare to change the intolerable “big money” election process that is threatening our democracy.
