This country was established to give its people great freedoms. These were to be maintained by elected officials looking out for the good of their constituents.
The more I read in our newspapers, watch on the television, and hear on the radio it seems like “we the people” have lost control of our rights by these officials who seem to be using the system to further their own agendas. They are having difficulty passing new budgets, resolving the Interstate 5 Bridge issues, improving highways, passing legislation for education, and arriving at a decision on the proposed oil terminal (I am one of many who are against this). Don’t get me started on national issues.
Now these officials have appointed their own committee who increased their wages exorbitantly, and now we must resort to legal means to have our voices heard about if it is justified. This year we on Social Security were told by our representatives that the cost of living had not increased and so there would be no increase in our retirement. Does this seem equitable?
We need people who have our interests at heart with no ulterior motives. I believe most people want to live peacefully with their families and friends, with a job they like and pay that will allow them to purchase some comforts of life. Is that too much to ask?
