Melanie Green of Evergreen Public Schools was named the 2016 Washington State Classified School Employee of the Year. The announcement was made by the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction on Thursday.

Green is the district administrator of family involvement and administrator of the district’s 10 Family and Community Resource Centers.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn said Green is a rare person who sees both the big picture and the details, and “understands that helping students is a team effort that includes members of the community.”

Under Green’s leadership, the district’s Family and Community Resource Centers expanded to 10 sites. The centers referred 650 students for social services in the 2014-15 school year, in large part because Green has built a network throughout Clark County’s government agencies, nonprofit organizations and faith communities.
