Hazel Dell — Churches In Partnership started seven years ago, when five local Presbyterian churches from around Clark County joined together to plant a garden and donate the produce to help people in the community who are battling hunger. The group visits the 78th Street Heritage Farm twice a week to plant, weed, water and harvest. It donates all the fresh produce to the Clark County Food Bank. In July, the group surpassed 100 tons of food donated to Clark County Food Bank since it formed in 2009. Lynn and Larry Grell, the partnership leaders, sent an email to group members letting them know about the accomplishment, while also telling them there is still plenty left to harvest. “Lynn and Larry’s enthusiasm to work hard and help people is contagious,” Alan Hamilton, executive director at Clark County Food Bank, said in a release from the organization. “Anyone who spends a Saturday morning volunteering with Churches In Partnership walks away feeling energized and inspired.”
