Portland police identified a Washougal woman as the driver in a crash that killed a bicyclist Friday in Portland.

Based on witness statements and evidence collected at the scene, Mary Elizabeth Dieter, 64, of Washougal was driving a 1997 Ram pickup east on Mount Scott Boulevard when she approached a T-shaped intersection at Southeast 112th Avenue, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

As Dieter turned, a bicyclist crashed into the passenger side of her pickup, Portland police said. The crash occurred about 3 p.m.

Cyclist Karla Kalene DeBaillie of Happy Valley, Ore., was taken to a Portland hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, police said.

DeBaillie had been traveling north and also was turning when the collision occurred, police said.

The investigation is continuing and once it is completed, Portland police will send the information to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office for review.
