Local opponents of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a massive and divisive global trade deal, will deliver signatures opposing the proposal to Clark County’s congressional delegation this week.
At 1 p.m. Thursday, Vancouver Fair Trade is set to drop off 335 signatures to the local offices of Rep. Jaime Herrera-Beutler, R-Camas, and Democratic Sens. Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray.
“The tariffs aren’t really the driving thing in this, and that’s what we’re concerned about — threats to our sovereignty,” TPP opponent David Goldberg said, adding that many of those opposed to the Port of Vancouver oil terminal proposal have joined the trade deal opposition.
