A 23-year-old man accused of possessing more than 200 images and videos of child pornography made a first appearance Wednesday in Clark County Superior Court.

Dakota J. McGee of Vancouver appeared on suspicion of 10 counts each of first-degree viewing and possessing depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The Vancouver Police Department’s Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit and FBI in Rochester, N.Y., discovered that someone from Vancouver was using a peer-to-peer file-sharing network to view and distribute child pornography, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court.

Investigators connected to the suspect’s computer and downloaded multiple images and videos depicting prepubescent girls engaged in sexually explicit conduct, the affidavit states.

A federal subpoena and state search warrant were served on the internet service provider, which identified the subscriber as McGee, court records said.

Investigators then served a search warrant at his residence and seized his laptop. An analysis of the laptop recovered about 200 images and 30 videos of child pornography. McGee allegedly admitted to viewing and downloading the material, the affidavit said.

According to court records, McGee has been employed for the last six months as a janitor through Kimko Services.

During his appearance, Judge Derek Vanderwood appointed McGee a defense attorney and set his bail at $15,000, court records show.

He will be arraigned Aug. 24.
