Letter: Herrera Beutler should go

I find it appropriate that Donald Trump is the standard bearer of the Republican Party. I think the Republican Party has been headed in this direction for at least as long as President Obama has been in office. So Trump truly exemplifies what the Republican Party has become.

As an independent for over 40 years, I’ve voted both sides of the aisle. I voted for Councilor David Madore and Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler. I won’t make that mistake again.

Far from being the independent thinker as portrayed by The Columbian, when Herrera Beutler opposes her party it’s listed as “Statistically Notable” by Govtrack.us.

Herrera Beutler is waiting for Donald Trump to earn her vote? Nonsense. She’s testing the political wind. If he hasn’t yet offended her to the point of opposing him, then she’s lost any moral compass she possessed. It’s time for her to go.
