Hazel Dell — Lois Elaine Smith-Zoll will celebrate her 50th year of involvement with the Miss America organization by singing the national anthem at one of this year’s preliminary competition events in Atlantic City, N.J. Smith-Zoll, who is known for her operatic voice, will sing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Boardwalk Hall, where the new Miss America will be crowned on Sept. 11.
