A Vancouver man faces a murder charge stemming from a 2015 shooting in Portland that left a 21-year-old man dead.

U.S. marshals on Tuesday arrested Javier Fernando Hernandez, 20, in Troutdale, Ore., on suspicion of murder, attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Authorities also arrested a Vancouver woman Friday in connection with the case. Cynthia Anne Scholer, 46, was arrested on suspicion of six counts of hindering prosecution and a count of tampering with physical evidence.

The shooting happened on Dec. 15 near Southeast 112th Avenue and Division Street, Portland police said.

The victim, Kyle Polk, suffered traumatic injuries; lifesaving efforts were made, but he died at the scene, police said.

Portland homicide detectives followed leads in the case and investigated for eight months, leading to a Multnomah County Grand Jury indicting Hernandez and Scholer in the case, police said.
