Letter: Level of depravity alarming

This week someone on Facebook shared a photo and video of a wounded child in Syria, sitting silent and still. It shows what Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin can do to people with opposing views to theirs.

Who else would do such dreadful things to their own people?

It starts in simple ways, like telling supporters to beat the crap out of protesters. Then there are tests for loyalty to the cause. And then protestors are jailed. Soon AK-47s become the way of “beating the crap” out of protestors, with bullets. Then somebody comes up with a final solution called sarin gas. Finally the person in charge says “Gas them all.”

It sometimes takes quite awhile to get to a final solution. But if you can motivate people enough to not only disagree with other people’s opposing views, but to hate them just for not agreeing with them, it is alarming the things some people are capable of doing.
