Nearly 4,000 customers were without power in Southeast and Northeast Portland on Sunday morning, according to Portland General Electric and Pacific Power.

Portland General Electric said it had received hundreds of calls about the outages, which was blamed in part on a vehicle crash. It affected nearly 2,000 customers in the ZIP codes 97215 and 97216.

Pacific Power said 2,000 of its customers in Northeast Portland and Maywood Park in ZIP code 97220 were also without power.

Police said cars had hit two power poles overnight. In one case, at Southeast 82nd Avenue near Madison, a driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, police said. In the second, at Northeast 102nd Avenue and Tillamook, the driver left the scene of the crash before officers arrived.

Another driver took out another power pole, NE 102 Tillamook. No power north all the way to NE Prescott.

Pacific Power said it had already restored power to 1,000 customers and expected all to be restored by 10 a.m. PGE expected power to be restored early in the afternoon.
