Citing winter weather conditions, Alaska Airlines has canceled about 35 flights scheduled to depart from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Tuesday morning.
Company officials said the scheduling troubles began Monday, as snow began to fall throughout the region. The precipitation forced ground crews to de-ice planes, which led to delays. As of 1 p.m. Monday, 48 Alaska Airlines flights at Sea-Tac had been canceled, with 6,300 passengers impacted, the company said.
“We fell short today and I apologize,” said Ben Minicucci, president and COO of Alaska Airlines Monday. “We pride ourselves on running a reliable airline and that didn’t happen today. We’ve staffed up and are working to get our customers to their final destinations as quickly as possible.”
With another blast of cold air and precipitation forecast for Tuesday morning, officials opted to cancel additional flights, the company said.
