Boys basketball: Battle Ground 63, Evergreen 61

The Battle Ground Tigers even acknowledged after the game that the clock was their best friend.

Battle Ground jumped out to a 22-point lead after three quarters then survived a wild comeback attempt from the Plainsmen.

Evergreen scored 34 points in the fourth quarter but never did tie the contest.

Daelon Floyd had 24 points and 16 rebounds to lead Battle Ground. Renato Mendoza added 15 points and six assists.

Payton Monda and Elon Freeman each had 16 points for Evergreen.

Battle Ground led 49-27 after three quarters. The Tigers had five turnovers at that point, but then turned it over 17 times in the fourth quarter.
