No one was hurt when a woman drove her new car into an apartment complex in east Vancouver on Tuesday afternoon.

Police and fire personnel were called to the Madison Park Apartments at 12901 N.E. 28th St. in the Landover-Sharmel neighborhood around 2 p.m.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said a 77-year-old woman, in her newly bought 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser, accidentally hit the gas instead of the break, which sent her car into the building.

Firefighters had to shore up some of the building’s support beams, Kapp said.
