Letter: Recounts restore trust

I am surprised by the resistance to the election recounts in three states, particularly since they are being paid for by outside sources. Given the allegations of voter fraud and claims of outright corruption, a recount would help restore trust in the election process. In fact, I believe it would be a good idea for the federal government to pay for voting audits of three to five states, randomly selected, after every presidential election. The $10 million the audits would cost is a prudent amount to spend to verify that the election process is accurate and deserving of the people’s confidence in the election results.
