Officers who responded to a robbery in downtown Vancouver this afternoon detained the suspect two blocks away.

Vancouver police officers were called to the Chase Bank, 1205 Broadway, at about 1:40 p.m. for a reported robbery, Vancouver Police Department Spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

A man entered the branch, implied a weapon and left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, she said.

The man, described as wearing distinctive clothing, was later found near the corner of East 13th and C Street, Kapp said.

Robert Barrie Bemis, 24, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery and booked into the Clark County Jail. He will likely appear on the allegation in Superior Court on Monday.
