Letter: Prevent homeless animals

I’ve noticed a serious problem that others may have not. There are too many homeless or shelter dogs and cats in Clark County. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 2.7 million animals are euthanized each year nationwide. The problem boils down to not spaying and neutering.

The result in not fixing your pet is lots more animals. More animals means more in the shelter or homeless. On average, one unspayed dog or cat can give birth to six puppies or kittens a year.

Every animal should have a home. I can’t stand the look on their faces when you pass by their cages. I have adopted two sweet loving dogs from the Humane Society. Both girls were insecure, scared and nervous. Now they are both thriving in a loving home.

Some people can’t afford the outrageous price of spaying and neutering. So, people like you and me should team up and start a nonprofit organization that spays and neuters for free. Dogs and cats are suffering because we won’t spay and neuter. We have to take the time to notice the problem. If we put in the effort, we can make a difference.
