OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will launch a new system during the weekend to sell fishing and hunting licenses plus the Discover Pass.

“It will be more user-friendly than the current system and will provide a better experience for our customers and the many retailers who sell state recreation licenses,’’ said Peter Vernie, licensing division manager.

The agency will shut down the current system on the Saturday night. No licenses will be sold on Sunday. Sales will resume on Monday.

Vernie said license will be available in mid-January for the 2017-18 cycle that begins April 1.
