The awards keep coming in for the Camas and Columbia River girls soccer team.

On Tuesday, Camas head coach Roland Minder was named the 2016 national coach of the year for girls soccer among large public schools by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Minder led the Papermakers to Class 4A state championship after 21-0-1 season in which Camas allowed just two goals.

It was Camas first 4A state title in girls soccer. Minder also led Camas to the 3A state crown in girls soccer in 2005.

He has been the girls varsity coach at Camas since 2004, accumulating a 205-35-18 record and five berths into the state semifinals.

Columbia River coach Filomon Afenegus was selected regional coach of the year for girls soccer in the small public school division after leading the Chieftains to the Class 2A state championship.

National and regional coaches of the year will be honored at the NSCAA Awards Banquet on Jan. 13 in Los Angeles as part of the 2017 NSCAA Convention.
