Yankee Candle is offering a voluntary recall of more than 31,000 of its scented candles after at least 16 people reported that, when heated, the square rippled glass holding the wax can crack.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission called it a “laceration hazard,” according to the voluntary recall notice on the agency’s website.
About 31,000 of the candles, from the company’s Luminous Candle Collection, were sold in the United States and 300 more were sold in Canada. The candle comes in a square base and has three wicks, according to the recall announcement. They are 4 inches wide and 5 inches thick and were sold for $35 online and in Yankee Candle stores from September to November.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and contact Yankee Candle to receive a full refund,” the recall announcement advises.
