Investigators likely won’t be able to determine what caused a Sunday evening fire that destroyed a mobile home northeast of Amboy.

Firefighters responded to a fire at 44407 N.E. Yale Bridge Road shortly after 5 p.m., following a call from the home’s occupant, Clark County Fire District 10 Capt. Ben Goble said.

“At the time, we were notified the house was fully involved,” Goble said.

Firefighters with District 10, Clark County Fire District 13, Clark County Fire & Rescue and from Cowlitz County responded.

The firefighters were at the scene for roughly 3 1/2 hours, Goble said. Although fire didn’t spread beyond the building, the single-wide mobile home was destroyed.

No one was hurt, Goble said, adding that the last he heard, the occupant was staying with family.

Deputy Clark County Fire Marshal Curtis Eavenson said it’s unlikely he’ll be able to definitively say what sparked the fire.

What evidence was left indicated that the fire originated near the wood stove.

“It was just too far gone to tell much,” he said.

The fire did about $50,000 in damage.
