Proebstel — Madeline McMillen, an 11-year-old student at Frontier Middle School, purchased 87 toys on Dec. 11 and donated them to Toys for Tots a few days later. She raised $1,500 during her first toy drive by selling pies, cookies and cupcakes. She used $1,200 of that to buy toys, and the remaining amount went to the purchase 12 jackets and 15 blankets, which she donated to the Portland Rescue Mission. In addition to money, a few people donated toys, so Madeline ended up giving 110 toys to Toys for Tots.
