The Vancouver Police Department responded to a robbery reported Monday morning at Umpqua Bank, 10705 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd.

A white man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a hoodie, scarf and blue jacket, entered the bank just after 10:30 a.m. and demanded money from the teller, Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said. No weapon was seen or implied, she said.

He left the area on foot with an unknown amount of cash, Kapp said. Police set up containment in the area and Clark County sheriff’s deputies and a police K-9 assisted in the search for the suspect, Kapp said.

The K-9 track was unsuccessful, and the search efforts ended at about noon with no arrest, Kapp said.

During the police activity, Orchards Elementary School was in a modified lockdown, Kapp said.
