Marshall leadership nominations extended

VANCOUVER — The Fort Vancouver National Trust has extended the nomination deadline for the Marshall Public Leadership Awards to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12.

The nomination form is available at http://fortvan.org/marshall, and at the National Trust offices in the General O.O. Howard House, 750 Anderson St.

Recipients will be honored Wednesday, March 9, at the Artillery Barracks at Fort Vancouver.

A nominee for the adult Marshall Public Leadership Award must be a resident of Clark County, 35 or younger, with a four-year college degree. The criteria include leadership ability, commitment to public service, academic achievement and potential for an ongoing active role in public service. The award includes $2,200 toward a trip to the Marshall Foundation in Lexington, Va., Colonial Williamsburg and Washington, D.C.; opportunities to work with community leaders; and a scholarship for Leadership Clark County.

Youth Leadership nominees must be county residents in the 12th grade. Criteria include activities and projects demonstrating the values represented by George C. Marshall. The award includes a $2,500 college scholarship, a $500 summer internship in the Trust’s Celebrate Freedom office and a chance to meet local elected officials.
