Clark women win

The Penguins held off a late rally to beat Mt. Hood 64-59 at O’Connell Sports Center.
Leading 54-32 after three quarters, the Penguins were hampered by foul trouble and fatigue in the final quarter. But Caylee Newsome and Livia Strandberg kept Clark ahead by hitting key free throws down the stretch. Newsome played most of the game at point guard after starter Brean Nueku sprained her wrist. She finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and had just one turnover.
“She wasn’t about to let us lose,” Clark coach Al Aldridge said.
Strandberg also had 18 points and eight rebounds for Clark
(14-8, 6-4 NWAC South).
