After winning her season debut on Sunday, Camas runner Alexa Efraimson plans to compete in three high-profile indoor track meets within the next six weeks.

On Feb. 14, Efraimson will run the mile at the New Balance Grand Prix in Boston.

On Feb. 20, Efraimson will compete in the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in New York City. The Nike runner will be part of an elite field that includes American 1,500 meter record holder Shannon Rowbury and four-time 1,500 meter national champion Treniere Moser.

Efraimson also plans to compete in the USATF Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 11-12 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.

Efraimson began her 2016 season Sunday by winning the one-mile race at the UW Invitational in Seattle. She clocked a time of 4 minutes, 34 seconds in her first high-profile race since a series of races in Europe over a two-week stretch last summer.

“You never know what can happen with a rust-buster, but I’m happy where I finished,” Efraimson said in a post-race interview with Flo Track.

Efraimson, 18, said she did a lot of training in the fall and is enjoying being a freshman at the University of Portland.

“I’m taking everything as a learning opportunity, especially learning from the older athletes and more-experienced ones,” she said.
