Missteps in handling water issue

The message the Republicans keep harping on is deregulation of the Environmental Protection Agency, among others. The powers that be in Flint, Mich., decided to ignore what the EPA required. It was more important to save $100 a day than protect the poor, disenfranchised people of Flint.

The damage from lead is permanent and irreversible. How many children are going to require medical and perhaps public assistance for the rest of their lives? The Republican governor chose to ignore the warnings. If this problem occurred in Grosse Pointe, a wealthy enclave adjacent to Detroit, it would not have been allowed to happen.

So, yeah, let’s abolish the EPA.
