Letter: Please approve Camas bond issue

It is said that a bond issue is for building and a levy is for learning. This is true when trying to establish the lines of how funds are allocated, but the product of a bond issue is made up of more than simple brick, steel and mortar.

The Camas School District bond issue is about new buildings that will add value to our community, but most importantly, it is about the greatest commodity our community has — its people. A school district is tasked with producing a commodity in this world like none other. Combined with the support of community and parents, a school district has to equip human beings emotionally, physically and mentally to be productive assets in our world. The task is monumental and paramount to the success of our future; a task that our community has supported. Those are reasons why I moved to Camas.

This bond issue will pave the way for new opportunities. Our district’s tradition of providing excellence in education will be enhanced through added and differentiated learning opportunities for a wide range of ages. I don’t doubt that the quality and caring that I have experienced in my own children’s lives will continue to flourish through this bond issue.

Become educated on the facts of this bond issue, consider how it will affect you and this community, and, if necessary, visit one of our schools. Then, be impactful and vote for the bond issue.
