Letter: Vote in Hockinson replacement levy

Hockinson voters care about their school district and the educational opportunities provided to our children. This was proven last year with the passage of a bond to support much-needed construction to replace and augment aging schools. However, the bond can be used only for new structures. This year we have the opportunity to support a replacement levy that will be directed toward school programs, staff positions and operations. The levy will replace two expiring levies and will help to maintain schools that are a source of pride for residents.

The levy will support maintenance, security, nursing, teachers and special education staff. It will provide funding for building repair, replacement of aging equipment and updates to keep district technology current. As a member of the Hockinson community, and as a mom with kids in the district, I want to do what I can to support measures that provide for a safe and supportive learning environment for my children and their peers.

Hockinson is a great place to live and raise a family. Let’s keep it the best it can be by continuing to support our schools and our children. Please vote by Feb. 9 to support the replacement levy.
