Is there anything that can be done to save the popular “Rizzoli & Isles?” Maybe a write-in, or would another station pick it up? It is one of the most entertaining shows on television and whoever thinks it is a good idea to cancel it must not know how popular it is. Not everyone likes a show that has a continuing plot all season. Some of us like a storyline that starts and is solved in the same episode.
Well, “Rizzoli” did have some serialized elements. But even though some shows find their way back from cancellation, that depends on it fitting a network’s needs and ratings expectations. TNT leadership reportedly wants to get into material that it thinks will appeal to a younger, more edge-embracing audience. So it ordered a relatively few 13 episodes for “Rizzoli’s” seventh season and later said that will be the series’ end. Again, it may be that someone else will pick up the show; “Longmire,” dropped by A&E amid declining ratings and a change in network direction, found new life on Netflix. And if it is not picked up, “Rizzoli” has had a pretty good run. Besides, you have not seen the last of it yet. On Feb. 16, it returns with two back-to-back episodes, followed by four more weekly installments, which wrap up the sixth season. Then those final 13 will air sometime this summer.
Is the TV series “Blood and Oil” going to be renewed? It was a great series. I want more.
I would not hope too much for more of the series. ABC originally ordered 13 episodes, then, after a few telecasts, trimmed the order back to 10. The last of those aired in December. The network called that the “season finale,” but there’s no indication it will return.
