In Our View: Cast Vote Today

Six local school districts have levies on the ballot and all should be supported

Published:

Today is Election Day, with ballots due for votes covering levies in six Clark County school districts — Evergreen, Green Mountain, Hockinson, La Center, Ridgefield and Vancouver.

As The Columbian noted in a Jan. 24 editorial, we encourage voters to support these levies. While school funding and the debates that surround it can be confounding, the most important fact regarding these levies is that they are replacements. The requests in front of voters would simply renew taxes that are scheduled to expire, not serve as new taxes.

In Camas, voters are considering a $120 million bond measure for construction projects that would, indeed, raise taxes.

Ballots must be postmarked by today or may be dropped off by 8 p.m. at one of the county’s authorized drop locations.
