SEATTLE — The Washington State Patrol plans to conduct drills on the Washington State Ferries vessel Hyak on Wednesday.

The drill will also involve the U.S. Coast Guard, the Bainbridge Island Police Department and the Seattle Police Department.

The public may notice a large law enforcement presence aboard the ferry and should be aware that it’s just a drill.

The drills are scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on a route in Puget Sound between Bainbridge and Seattle.

No passengers will be aboard the ferry during the exercise. The Hyak will be out-of-service during these drills. Regular ferry traffic won’t be impacted.
