PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and the Quinn Driscoll Foundation are teaming up once again to offer free heart screenings for teen athletes.

The Young Champions heart screenings are Feb. 20 at PeaceHealth Southwest’s Heart & Vascular Center, 400 N.E. Mother Joseph Place. Space is limited. Advanced registration is required; register online, www.peacehealth.org/southwest/services/heart/Pages/young-champions.

The screenings are for Clark County middle or high school athletes, band members and cheerleaders who are 12 to 18 years old. The screening uses EKG tests to spot serious heart conditions known to cause sudden cardiac death in active teens.

Young Champions screenings include a review of the child’s personal and family health history, blood pressure check, EKG/ECG and a heart ultrasound, if needed.
