Letter: Bring compromise back into favor

By Terry Nichols, Vancouver

The furor and unrest in the Republican Party is currently aimed at the presidency because of an almost total lack of progress and accomplishment of the country’s desperate needs. However, it’s actually the Republican Congress that has blocked almost every bill and appointment that has been submitted. So perhaps Republicans might consider either changing parties or voting out their current legislators and installing new ones who actually know the meaning of compromise. That word worked well for 230 years and should be reintroduced into the congressional vocabulary. Only then will we see some progress made on our aging roads, bridges and the environment.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
