Ridgefield — Heidi Christenson, a Ridgefield native, was named fifth runner-up in the National Make It With Wool Competition in January in Scottsdale, Ariz. Washington State Senior Division Winner Christenson created a three-piece ensemble: a cream-colored, crocheted Mohair sweater; cream-colored, wool knit camisole with machine-embroidered lace; and navy slacks of 100 percent Pendleton wool. This is Christenson’s second year competing in the Make It With Wool competition. Her grandmother taught her to sew. The Make It With Wool Contest, sponsored by the American Sheep Industry and the American Sheep Industry Women, is open to all ages. Competitions are held at the district, state and national levels each year. For more information on the contest and how to enter, visit nationalmakeitwithwool.com.
