Business Growth Alliance forum set for Jan. 20

Vancouver — Washington State University Vancouver’s next Business Growth Alliance forum will feature a discussion of the Blue Ocean Strategy, a business development concept developed by W. Chan Kim and Ren?e Mauborgne. The forum will be held 8:30 to 10 a.m. Jan. 20 at Burgerville’s Center for Responsible Community Leadership, 1602 Main St., Vancouver.

The Blue Ocean Strategy outlines how businesses can develop unexplored industries and markets, map its competitive advantage and break the cycle of value and cost trade-offs.

Michael Curry, professor of management information systems in the Carson College of Business, will discuss the Blue Ocean framework. Zack Parnell, CEO of Industrial Training International of Woodland, will explain how his company used this method to create new market space. Guests are invited to apply what they learn during a work session after the talk.

Register online at business.vancouver.wsu.edu/bgmap under “Upcoming events.” Cost is $10 per person in advance or $15 per person at the door. Students with a valid WSU student ID are free.
